The Display Copy

Point Me To The Skies

Well, here it is, the first giclee print. There will be a set of five altogether. The artist book will appear when I've decided on how to make it, and thanks to Pinterest that shouldn't be too much of a problem :)

The door is always open

The Eagle is a Toby Carvery. It has lovely ironwork which is quite difficult to draw on a small scale and if I draw all of it, I run the risk of the whole piece being just about that. I know the ironwork is what makes The Eagle, The Eagle but I wanted to pay attention to the umbrellas and the steps leading up to the open front door. This took three visits, about four hours work. Making art isn't just about what you put in or leave out, it's also about the times in-between, what happens when you're not there.

Found Interior

I've gone large on this, 14" x 11"! I didn't mean to, but it was a question of scale, being close up. The challenge here is the Buddleia. As mass of organic forms that I have to draw with some sort of arrangement. When there isn't any. Anyway, after getting the general idea down, for once it was easier to find some on 'images' and be inventive.

The lighting is somewhat staged too. It was daylight when I started and completely dark outside when I called time. The giveaway being the cast shadow beneath the peg bag. I have burnt the candle at both ends in my friend's kitchen, so I think that makes it alright then, doesn't it :)
